Double-Elimination (Adults), Double-Elimination (kids) and Submission-Only Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.
It is the athlete’s responsibility to be on weight and make sure they are registered in the correct weight division, rank, and team on the competitor list.
In the occurrence that an athlete cannot make weight, he/she should contact us immediately before the registration MODIFICATION/CORRECTION deadline (Wednesday before the tournament).
The day of the tournament, we will no longer accept registration corrections, athletes who fail to make weight will be disqualified with no refund.
Submission Arts United is an organization based in Montreal that aims to provide a competition platform for grapplers of all levels.
We want our Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling tournaments and exhibitions to be run in a professional, safe, and unbiased environment where every academy is involved to ensure and protect its integrity.
Tournament structure :
From now on, ALL adult divisions will be single-elimination and ALL Kids divisions will be double-elimination.
Submission Arts United competitors can compete in Gi or Nogi (or both for adult female competitors). Both formats operate in different rulesets.

Yes, MALE & FEMALE competitors can now register GI and NOGI. Youth are Gi only
Due to popular demand, we are using IBJJF weight classes (GI). The reason is to establish a standard in grappling tournaments so that competitors can participate in numerous tournaments throughout the year while keeping their competition weight stable. There shall be allowed a 1 pound weight allowance. Be advised, there are NEW weight divisions.
Yes, Masters (35 years +) divisions are now available for MALE & FEMALE division in GI and NOGI. If you are a brown belt or black belt interested in competing, please contact us as soon as possible.
Same as IBJJF Rules, the weigh-ins will be done with the GI (Kimono) for GI divisions and in NOGI attire for NOGI divisions. The 1 pound weight allowance will still be in effect.
In your account, click on the registered athlete’s link. Brackets will be posted on Thursday before the tournament – subject to change Saturday as competitors attempt to make their weigh-ins.
In case of different ranks or levels of experience, we will follow the rules of the least advanced rank or experience.
There will be a single elimination Absolute divisions for all of the Adult Gi and No-gi belts and skill levels. Only those who placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd will qualify.
All weigh-ins will take place all day. All competitors are expected to be checked-in, weighed-in, warmed up and ready to compete 1 hour prior to their scheduled division.
